American Legion Post 24 Monthly Meeting 14 May 2019 – Minutes Commander Boehmler called the meeting to order at 1730.  Before proceeding with the regular meeting, the commander directed the Sergeant at Arms to undrape the charter. The colors were posted and the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution were recited.  The Post Chaplain offered the opening prayer and the POW/MIA memorial conducted. Roll Call:

  • In receipt of 4 applications for the scholarship
  • Deadline is 15 June 2019
Legion School Award:  
  • Commander Boemhler said that he would coordinate with the Marlborough School about the John Fletcher Award and the School Award
  • Adjutant will inventory certificates and awards to ensure that they are on hand
Membership Committee: Now processing 2019 memberships
  • 41 paid thus far, 0 remain outstanding
  • 2019 membership is closed
Centennial Committee:
  • Commander Boehmler explained the Post Memorial Project, a list of all deceased Marlborough veterans whose names will appear on a large display or moveable Memorial Wall
  • Commander made a motion that the Post authorizes funds in the amount of $60.00 to have Gem Graphics enlarge and print the names. The motion was duly seconded by the Adjutant and approved by membership.
Memorial Day:
  • Scheduled for Sunday, 26 May 2019 this year
  • Flags have been placed along Main Street to include 4 Centennial Flags
  • Many of the flag poles used this year will need repair before use next year
  • Small flags distributed to those responsible for replacing flags on veterans graves at cemeteries in town
  • Adjutant will coordinate and schedule rehearsal for color guard prior to Memorial Day
Race Committee:  
  • Coordinated with Monadnock Area Grand Prix (MAGP) and Tri State Racing about the running of the 8th Annual Marlborough Mad Dash
  • Race is currently scheduled for Saturday 24 August 2019
  • Race award/prize categories expanded, Adjutant will order items ASAP (Legion Centennial Theme)
Boys State Committee:
  • Established application deadline of 24 May 2019
  • Sunday June 23 through Friday, June 28 on the campus of Saint Anselm College in Manchester
Texas Hold-Em: Fall 2019 – must wait 1 calendar year before organization will be scheduled Senior Vice: No Report Junior Vice:  No Report Post Service Officer:
  • Continues with visitations
  • Genesis now has a Veterans Wall with the names of their residents

  • Put together a flier which lists all of the 2019 Post activities which will be delivered USPS Every Door Direct (Approx. $200.00)

Correspondence: Good of the Legion:
  • The Adjutant made a motion that the Post donates $150.00 to Veterans Count. The motion was duly seconded and approved by membership.

Adjournment: With no further business to be conducted, a motion was made to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was duly seconded and carried.  The Post Chaplain offered a closing prayer after which the colors were retired and the meeting was adjourned at 1935 by Commander Boehmler.
