Memorial Day Observance

Post 24 Color Guard salutes the Marlborough Veterans who are no longer with us

The Post would like to thank all of the Marlborough residents who submitted changes/corrections to the Adjutant in order to update the Roster of Veterans for this year’s Memorial Day Services. The Post Color Guard, Officers, and community gathered at the Pine Grove Cemetery at 12 noon on the 26th of May to celebrate those residents of Marlborough who dedicated a portion of their lives in service to our country.  It was a solemn ceremony beginning with a bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace followed by the recognition of the many deceased veterans who served our country in the wars of the 20th and 21st century.  Commander Boehmler delivered a Memorial Day speech which was followed by a volley from the Post Color Guard and taps.

The annual Memorial Day parade stepped off from the Frost Free Library at 2PM.  Led by the color guard and the Monadnock High School Marching Band, the column moved west along RT 101. After a short pause at the bridge for a wreath ceremony, the marchers continued moving west finally ending behind the Marlborough Fire Department.  At this point, the Monadnock Band performed a selection of patriotic numbers which finally brought the day to a conclusion.  Many thanks to all participants as well as our neighbors who took the time to attend the day’s festivities.
